Graves' disease (GD) is caused by thyroid stimulating antibodies (TSAb) which are thyrotropin (TSH) agonists. Thyroid peroxidase (TPO) antibodies, although markers of thyroid auto-immunity are not involved in the pathogenesis of GD.
